
Prof. Dr. Khaled Galal Ahmed is a Professor of Architectural Engineering and Urban Design in the Architectural Engineering Department, College of Engineering, United Arab Emirates University. He is also the Founding Director of the Engineering Consultancy Center at UAEU. He previously served as an Expert in the Provost Office and, for eight years, as Coordinator of the Architectural Engineering Master’s and PhD Programs.
Prof. Khaled earned his PhD from the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University, United Kingdom. Before joining academia, he practiced as an architect and urban designer in Egypt and the Arabian Gulf region. His research focuses on sustainable and resilient urbanism, urban modeling and simulation, and urban morphology analysis. He has published widely in international journals, conference proceedings, edited books, and book chapters.
At UAEU, Prof. Khaled teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in architectural and urban design and has supervised several master’s theses and PhD dissertations. Beyond academia, he has contributed articles and interviews to local and regional media platforms, including National Geographic Arabia, Al Fujairah TV, and Al Bayan newspaper.
Prof. Khaled has been recognized by several governmental and professional entities for his academic, professional, and community contributions, including the Minister of Happiness and Wellbeing, Abu Dhabi Municipality, Sheikh Zayed Housing Program, Al Ain Municipality, Fujairah Municipality, and the Directorate of Planning and Survey in Sharjah. He received the UAEU Chancellor’s Innovation Award in Education and the College of Engineering Excellence Award in Service in 2020–2021. In 2022–2023, he received both the UAEU Excellence Award and the College of Engineering Excellence Award in Teaching. He and his UAEU student teams won the Sharjah Sustainability Award in two consecutive cycles, 2022–2023 and 2023–2024. In 2025, he received the Sustainability Champion Award from the Global Ambassadors of Sustainability. In 2026, he received the 4th Cycle Excellence and Creative Engineering Award for Best Scientific Research in Engineering from the UAE Society of Engineers.
