Lingyi Kong is a designer, educator, and researcher working at the intersection of generative AI and design pedagogy. She holds an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and a BFA from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), and currently serves as Lecturer and Mentor at BU Spark!, Boston University, having previously taught at Parsons School of Design. Her research develops conceptual frameworks for how learners form genuine understanding and judgment in an age of generative AI, moving beyond surface-level "first outputs." Her work has been recognized with the GOOD DESIGN Award and acquired into permanent collections, including the Ricker Library of Architecture and Art. She has served as a peer reviewer for the Design Incubation and across design and HCI venues, and contributes to scholarship on AI and creative education, including a forthcoming chapter with Palgrave Macmillan. She also serves as Director of Diversity and Inclusion at AIGA Boston.
