
Award-winning doctoral education and water quality researcher | Head of the Engineering Education Research Group | Academic Coordinator in the Digital Waters Flagship's PhD pilot
My career has developed from physical geography and urban water quality management to higher education, especially on doctoral education. My background focuses on freshwater quality with climate adaptation, sustainable food systems, circular economy, risk management, and governance. I thrive in interdisciplinary collaboration—linking topics from agricultural nutrient export and urban ecosystem services to coastal flooding and even global human migration—to create actionable, data-driven solutions. Recent collaborations include circular water economy and asset management in water utilities.
I also lead impactful change in doctoral education. In the Digital Waters Flagship's PhD pilot, I co-design collaborative, learning-centric, and inclusive supervision with 60+ doctoral researchers and their supervisors, advancing digital twins and source-to-sea concepts. As manager of the Engineering Education Research Group (EERG), I build problem-based, interdisciplinary learning environments and champion wellbeing and meaningful career paths.
