
Marcelo Sbarra is an architect, urbanist, researcher, professor and author, with more than 20 years of experience connecting urban regulation, accessibility, real estate development, education and applied research.
He is the CEO of Marcelo Sbarra Arquitetura e Urbanismo — MSA, a Brazilian practice working at the intersection of architecture, urban planning, legal interpretation, accessibility and technical consultancy. His work combines professional practice with academic research, especially through Actor-Network Theory, discourse analysis and the study of how regulations, institutions, technologies and bodies shape contemporary cities.
Marcelo holds a Master’s and a PhD in Architecture from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, has completed postdoctoral research, and is currently connected to international academic and professional networks. He is also an editor of the journal Cities & Health and has published books and articles on urban space, regulation, architecture and society.
As a returning Judge for the QS Reimagine Education Awards, Marcelo brings a multidisciplinary perspective to educational innovation, with particular interest in projects that connect knowledge, social impact, accessibility, urban life, technology and meaningful transformation.
