
Dr Marco De Sisto is an award-winning educator and Associate Professor in Management at RMIT University (Australia), where he also serves as Chair of the EARTH Sustainability Research Group and is a member of the Centre for Organisations and Social Change (COSC). His work focuses on reimagining higher education through authentic, industry-engaged, and globally connected learning experiences that equip students to become responsible leaders capable of addressing complex societal and sustainability challenges.
Marco coordinates and teaches across MBA and postgraduate programs in Business Consulting, Social Entrepreneurship, Sustainable Business Models, and Work-Integrated Learning. He has designed and led innovative educational initiatives that integrate live industry consulting projects, international virtual collaboration, gamified learning, and sustainability-focused experiential education. His educational innovations have been implemented across Australia, Singapore, Vietnam, China, and Italy, creating meaningful learning experiences that bridge academia, industry, and community impact.
His contributions to learning and teaching have been recognised through numerous institutional and national awards, including the 2024 Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) Citation and the 2023 RMIT Vice-Chancellor's Teaching Excellence Award. He is also a member of the Steering Committee of the UN PRME Climate Change and Environment Working Group, contributing to the advancement of responsible management education on a global scale.
Marco's research explores sustainability, responsible management, strategic decision-making under uncertainty, and organisational resilience. His work has been published in leading international journals, including Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Environmental Management, Journal of Product Innovation Management, and the Human Resource Management Journal. His research directly informs his teaching philosophy, reinforcing his belief that education should not only generate knowledge but also inspire innovation, ethical leadership, and measurable societal impact.
