
Dr. M. K. A. Ahamed Khan
is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Mechanical and Mechatronics
Engineering, UCSI University, Malaysia. Born in Tamil Nadu, India, in 1961, he
demonstrated outstanding academic and extracurricular excellence from an early
age, receiving the Best Student Award and gold medals in Mathematics and
Physics during his Pre-University studies.
He earned his Bachelor
of Engineering in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Madras
University, India, and a Master of Science degree in Electronics and Control
Engineering from BITS Pilani, India. He further enhanced his expertise with an
Advanced Diploma in Power Electronics and Drives from Lucas–Nuelle, Germany
(2002), along with advanced professional training from Woosun University, South
Korea. Dr. Khan obtained his PhD in Robotics, Power Electronics, and Control
Systems from the United States. He is a Professional Engineer certified by IAO
(USA), a Chartered Engineer (CEng, UK), a Senior Member of IEEE (USA), and a
Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK.
His professional career
includes international industrial and academic experience. He worked with Rohde
& Schwarz, Germany, as a Sales and Service Engineer from 1983 to 1987. He
later served as a Senior Lecturer at Madras University for seven years,
followed by academic appointments at TAFE Australia (Malaysia Campus). From
1997 to 2006, he was the Program Coordinator for the Malaysia–France twinning
program with the University of Nice, France. He also served as an Assistant
Professor at Universiti Selangor (UNISEL), Malaysia, from 2006 to 2017.
Dr. Khan has extensive
consultancy and corporate training experience, having worked with multinational
organizations such as Schneider Electric (France), Vivendi Water Supplies
(France), and several Malaysian and Singaporean industries. Currently, he
continues his academic and research career at UCSI University.
He has been actively
involved with IEEE, serving as an Executive Committee Member of the IEEE
Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), Malaysia Chapter in 2013, where he
received the Best IEEE RAS Executive Member Award. He later served as Chairman
of the IEEE RAS Malaysia Chapter (2022–2023) and as an IEEE UCSI Student Branch
Counselor.
His research interests
include Power Electronics, Motor Drives, Robotics, and Control Systems. Dr.
Khan has received more than 20 national and international awards and has
published over 100 research papers and technical articles in journals and
conference proceedings. He also serves as a reviewer and session chair for
international conferences and academic competitions.
His hobbies include
tennis, table tennis, cricket, traveling, and reading.
