
Dr nihal al sabbagh is a sustainability architect and educator whose work sits at the intersection of environmental science, urban design, and transformative pedagogy. Holding a PhD from the architectural association school of architecture in London and an MSc in sustainable design from the British university in Dubai, she brings rigorous academic grounding to every classroom and studio she leads.
As a founder and design director of Environas, an Environmental Design lab operating across Cairo, and Abu Dhabi, Dr. Al Sabbagh has pioneered an applied learning philosophy- one that moves students beyond theory into live microclimatic analysis, energy simulation, and human centered design research. This hands-on approach has shaped her teaching across institutions including Nile university, the German International University, and Abu Dhabi University, where she has consistently adopted cutting edge tools such as ENVI-met to equip the next generation of architects with the skills to design for climate resilience.
Her research on Pedestrians thermal comfort, walkability, and multi-agent based simulation has been presented at leading international conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals – work she brings directly into her curriculum to ensure students engage with the most pressing challenges in sustainable urbanism.
