
Dr. Rashmi Sharma is an academician, researcher, and interior design professional currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the School of Design, IILM University, Gurugram. With over 18 years of diverse professional experience, she brings together expertise from industry, research, and academia. Her career includes more than 12 years of experience in the technical and design industry, along with extensive contributions to teaching, research, and scholarly development.
Dr Sharma holds a PhD in Design and Management from Sushant University, Gurugram. She also earned an M.Sc. in Interior Design and Styling and a B.Sc. in Interior Design from Punjab Technical University, along with a diploma in Interior Designing from Meera Bai Institute, New Delhi.
Her industry portfolio includes prestigious hospitality, residential, and commercial projects such as The Lalit Srinagar, Radisson Faridabad, Radisson Paschim Vihar, Lodha Group developments, RMZ Galleria Show Flats & Clubhouse, and Trump Tower Mumbai. She has collaborated with renowned firms and consultants, including Studio HBA, Bobby Mukherjee & Associates, Raheja Developers, and SWBI Architects, gaining valuable exposure to luxury interiors, project execution, and client management.
Her research interests focus on design and management, visual merchandising, digital merchandising, consumer psychology, sustainable interior practices, online shopping behaviour, and AI-driven retail experiences. Dr Sharma has published research papers in reputable Scopus-, UGC CARE-, and ABDC-indexed journals. She has also presented papers at several national and international conferences on digital consumer behaviour, AI-enabled retail ecosystems, and e-commerce experiences.
In addition to her academic and research contributions, she has been granted a design patent under the Designs Act, 2000, for an AI-Based E-Commerce Fraud Detection Device, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach toward innovation, design, and technology.
