Dr. Sharul Dol is the Director of
the Research Institute for Sustainable Futures at Abu Dhabi University, where
he also serves as Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Assistant Dean for
Research and Innovation at the College of Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. from
the University of Calgary, Canada, conducting research on pulsatile flow over a
backward-facing step using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). His doctoral work
was supported by a prestigious scholarship from Talisman Energy Inc., awarded
to exceptional candidates whose research advances environmentally, socially,
and economically responsible energy solutions while addressing challenges in
the oil and gas industry.
Dr. Dol’s research focuses on the fundamentals of turbulent and unsteady flows, vortex dynamics, and aerodynamics, with applications spanning aerospace engineering, propulsion systems, wind energy, flow assurance and atmospheric water harvesting. He has led numerous government and industry-funded projects, particularly in renewable energy technologies, water harvesting systems and oil and gas pipeline networks. His professional credentials include Chartered Energy Engineer status from the Energy Institute, UK.
