Subarno Bhattacharyya is an emerging academic administrator, researcher, and higher education leader with close to a decade of experience spanning academic governance, institutional development, digital learning, and sustainability research across leading Indian universities—including Manipal University Jaipur, DIT University, and institutions under the JIS Group. He began his professional journey as a Laboratory Assistant, and through sustained determination, commitment to higher education, and engagement with global academic perspectives, he has been elevated to the position of Joint Director—Digital Learning & Online Education (Academic Governance, Programme Development & Digital Transformation) at O.P. Jindal Global Institution of Eminence Deemed-to-be-University, Sonipat, India, effective from 01 April 2026.
In this role, he serves as strategic initiatives in online, blended, and non-residential programme development; academic policy frameworks; digital transformation of teaching–learning ecosystems; and technology-enabled academic operations. His work focuses on strengthening institutional capacity in AI-enabled education, digital governance, and sustainable higher education systems.
Subarno’ s career reflects a unique blend of academic leadership, policy-oriented administration, and research-driven innovation across several reputed institutions including Manipal University Jaipur, DIT University, JIS Group, and COER University. Across these roles, he has contributed to institutional accreditation, quality assurance, rankings, academic governance systems, and the establishment of digital and online education frameworks.
Academically, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Energy Studies) at VIT Bhopal University, with research focused on optimization of solar energy utilization and storage using Artificial Neural Network architectures. His interdisciplinary research interests span renewable energy systems, AI and machine learning in green engineering, ESG frameworks, Industry 5.0, and sustainable supply chains.
He holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Renewable Energy), a PGDM in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education from Indira Gandhi National Open University. He has also completed the Leadership Management Programme at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, strengthening his expertise in institutional leadership and strategic management.
A recognized young leader in academia, Mr. Bhattacharyya has received numerous national and international honors including Higher Education Leader of the Year, Rising Leader in Higher Education, Young Science Leader Award, and National Innovative Educator Award. He was also recognized as one of the youngest academic administrators in India and has been invited to serve as a Judge for the QS Reimagine Education Awards 2025.
His scholarly contributions include peer-reviewed research publications, conference proceedings indexed in Scopus and IEEE, and multiple books on solar energy, artificial intelligence in energy systems, and green computing. In addition, he holds several patents, design registrations, and international copyrights, demonstrating his commitment to innovation, intellectual property development, and technology-driven research.
