
Syakirah Shafien is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Language Studies and Human Development, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan. With more than 15 years of experience in English language education, she has taught students from matriculation, pre-university, and undergraduate levels, specialising in English language proficiency, MUET, academic writing, and learner development.
Her research and innovation portfolio spans a broad range of interdisciplinary areas, including English language education, AI-assisted language learning, digital education, educational technology, self-instructional learning, curriculum and instruction, assessment, and educational innovation. She has led and developed numerous impactful educational innovations, including AI-powered learning applications, digital learning ecosystems, MOOCs, and self-learning instructional materials aimed at enhancing learner autonomy and English language proficiency. Her recent scholarly work focuses on the integration of artificial intelligence, digital learning innovations, and technology-enhanced language education to improve teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
Syakirah has actively participated in and received recognition through various national and international innovation competitions, reflecting her commitment to advancing educational excellence through research, innovation, and community impact. She continues to contribute to academic scholarship through publications, research collaborations, curriculum development, and professional engagement in higher education.
