Immersive Experiential Learning Award
The Immersive Experiential Learning Award recognises outstanding educational initiatives in which immersive environments have been purposefully designed to support authentic practice, experiential learning, and applied decision-making in response to a clearly defined educational challenge. This category celebrates initiatives where immersion is foundational to the learning experience and outcomes, rather than a superficial or aesthetic enhancement.
Eligible initiatives must demonstrate that immersion plays a pedagogically essential role, enabling learners to engage in experiences that are difficult, costly, risky, or impossible to replicate through traditional teaching methods. Applicants should clearly articulate why immersion was necessary, how the experience was designed to support learning objectives, and how it enables outcomes that could not be achieved through non-immersive formats.
Initiatives may employ a range of immersive approaches, including XR (AR/VR/MR), simulations, serious games, or virtual environments, and may be applied across disciplines such as health, engineering, technical education, professional training, or applied sciences. While technological sophistication may form part of the solution, the emphasis is on learning design, instructional intent, and demonstrable educational impact, rather than the novelty or complexity of the technology itself.
Strong submissions will evidence how immersive experiential learning supports meaningful practice, reflection, feedback, and skill transfer, resulting in measurable improvements in learner competence, confidence, or performance.
